1. On-Site Security Needs
Assessment
To receive a clear, confidential report on the
risks to your work, data and business, the CMA has worked with Informatica,
one of Canada's top information security firms, to develop a 1/2
day Security Needs Assessment. You get:
a. A clear picture of your business security,
from web presence to office presence
b. Easy and affordable solutions that your company can implement
and control
c. Best of all: unique tips on turning your newfound security
into new business!
This report will highlight to your executive team
the areas of potential weakness, so that you know where to focus
your limited resources to fix them. Once any weaknesses are addressed,
you will be able to proudly trumpet to customers that you run a
safe, secure ship, and that they can feel comfortable dealing with
you, knowing that their confidential information will be kept safe
and secure.
Cost: $299 (plus Travel & Living expenses, if applicable)
2. Security Marketing Strategy Session
Informatica has developed a ½ day “Security
Marketing Strategy Session” seminar exclusively for CMA members.
This
unique opportunity to work with a certified security manager will
give your management and marketing staff unique insights into the
security needs of your customer base. This allows you to anticipate
trends that could deliver realistic differentiators within your
industry. This session will be delivered by Claudiu Popa, a recognized
Canadian security expert and author of numerous courses on information
asset protection and regulatory compliance. Claudiu will assist
your group through the process of identifying key differentiators
and articulating an effective security marketing strategy.
This is a confidential Security Marketing Strategy consulting session
designed to allow executives and their marketing staff to understand
how their specific positive security posture translates into a strong
and valuable differentiator in the eyes of their target market.
The goal of this customized session is to derive significant ROI
from existing or planned security investments. Included in this
service is an initial 30-minute interview of one key member of IT
or MIS.
Duration: 3.5 hours
Audience: Key management + Marketing personnel
Cost: $150/person, with a 3-person minimum, delivered at CMA’s
Toronto office. Alternatively, an organization-specific or webinar
version of this course can be delivered at your site (customization
fee to be negotiated).

Consider the facts.
According to two security studies released in June
2005:
• Security attacks and breaches on businesses have increased
by 35% over the previous year
• Secure business practices, awareness and protection are
top-of-mind issues more than ever before
• The most significant financial losses occur as a result
of fraudulent transactions and loss of business from damaged reputations
Customer trust has been shaken. Individuals and businesses are understandably
wary of doing business online and offline. By learning to leverage
your organization’s security investments, your business will
grow. It’s as simple as:
1. understanding what aspects of business customers
need to trust the most,
and providing it
2. showing your customers that you value their business and your
own
3. showing your competition that you have an unbeatable differentiator
CMA Members routinely gather and store confidential information
on customers. If this information is not safeguarded properly, the
organization leaves itself open to:
• Penalties for not being
compliant with government regulations (e.g., PIPEDA)
• Lawsuits from affected parties
• Negative publicity, resulting in customer
mistrust and lost sales
On the flip side, by introducing strong controls over information,
organizations:
• Increase customer trust
and loyalty when dealing with the organization, especially as it
relates to eCommerce
• Drive Sales,
by leveraging security investments
• Differentiate
themselves from the competition
